Our Story

Hardware and software products are increasingly subject to successful cyberattacks, leading to an estimated global annual cost of cybercrime of €5.5 trillion by 2021. Such products suffer from two major problems: a low level of cybersecurity, reflected by widespread vulnerabilities and inconsistent provision of security updates, and an insufficient understanding and access to operational information by users. To improve the aforementioned products, cybersecurity should be addressed during product development, assessed prior to product launching and monitored and patched during operation.

Why Orbik?

Cyber Resilience Act, new cybersecurity schemes for the evaluation and certification of industrial products. Independent cybersecurity evaluations (third-party assessments) are a key enabler in these schemes.

Machine Manufacturer Cybersecurity as a key to Competitiveness and Regulatory Compliance. Europe aspires to be a leader in cybersecurity.

Hardware and software products are increasingly subject to successful cyberattacks, leading to an estimated global annual cost of cybercrime of €5.5 trillion by 2021.

An increasing number of connected devices – it is expected that 22.3 billion devices worldwide will be connected to the IoT by 2024.

Origin

Ikerlan, a leading technology center specialized in Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Energy, and Mechatronics, drove the creation of Orbik as a spin-off of its cybersecurity department, with the goal of bringing its expertise closer to industry.

Orbik was founded to address a growing need: providing industrial products with real, verifiable cybersecurity guarantees aligned with the most demanding international standards. Its approach is built on independence and technical rigor, enabling manufacturers and organizations to validate the security level of their products throughout their entire lifecycle.

From design to operation, we support manufacturers and end users in integrating safety, reliability, and cybersecurity requirements, helping them achieve regulatory compliance while strengthening trust in their products in increasingly demanding and regulated markets.
