Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Orbik Cybersecurity Join Forces to Advance Cybersecurity Research and Talent Development for Industry

Arrasate-Mondragón, June 11, 2026 – The School of Engineering of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Orbik Cybersecurity have signed a collaboration agreement to launch a programme aimed at developing joint R&D projects, strengthening knowledge transfer, and training specialized cybersecurity professionals, one of the most strategic technological fields for industry and businesses today.

The agreement, which will remain in force for four years, will contribute to generating knowledge, developing innovative technologies, and training highly qualified talent capable of addressing the digital security challenges faced by industry.

Through this initiative, both organizations will create joint working teams made up of Orbik Cybersecurity professionals, Mondragon Unibertsitatea researchers and academic staff, as well as undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students. The goal is to foster close collaboration between academia and industry, accelerating technology transfer and facilitating the integration of highly qualified professionals into the business ecosystem.

The agreement is aligned with the strategic commitment of both organizations to promote innovation, technological development, and the creation of specialized talent. For Orbik Cybersecurity, this collaboration contributes to the objectives set out in its 2030 Business Plan, which foresees significant growth in both business activity and workforce over the coming years. The alliance will strengthen the attraction and development of highly qualified cybersecurity professionals, a key area for supporting the organization’s future growth and responding to the increasing needs of industry.

Priority Areas of Collaboration

The priority areas defined in the agreement include industrial cybersecurity; software, network and systems security; artificial intelligence applied to cybersecurity; software testing; and signal and communications theory. These areas will provide the foundation for the development of industrial research projects, technology demonstrators, technology intelligence activities, training programmes, and talent development initiatives.

As part of the agreement, both organizations will develop a four-year technology roadmap to identify and prioritize research areas with the greatest potential impact on the industrial and business ecosystem.

The collaboration also seeks to promote internships, bachelor’s and master’s final projects, doctoral theses, and other initiatives aimed at bringing students closer to real-world innovation environments and facilitating their transition into the labour market.

Through this alliance, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Orbik Cybersecurity reinforce their commitment to developing advanced cybersecurity capabilities, a discipline that is becoming increasingly critical for the competitiveness, resilience, and digital transformation of organizations, businesses, and society as a whole.
