Arrasate-Mondragón, November 2, 2026 –

Orbik Cybersecurity has presented its roadmap to become a leading European company in industrial cybersecurity during a visit by the Deputy General of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, to its facilities in Arrasate-Mondragón.

The visit showcased the evolution of a technology initiative that started in 2023 as an IKERLAN spin-off and later became a MONDRAGON cooperative. In just three years, Orbik has grown to more than 60 professionals and 100 clients, and closed 2025 with revenues of over €2 million.

Its growth has been driven by the development of proprietary technology that helps companies ensure the cybersecurity and regulatory compliance of their industrial electronic products. The cooperative works in areas such as cybersecurity assessment, certification and end-to-end compliance management, an increasingly important need in sectors such as energy, transportation, automotive, rail, Industry 4.0, medical devices and connected devices in general.

Orbik is now embarking on a new stage of growth with three priorities: developing technology from Gipuzkoa, creating highly skilled jobs and helping to improve the competitiveness of industry through a cooperative business project with an international outlook.

Institutions, technology and cooperation working together

The visit also highlighted the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council’s commitment to industrial cybersecurity. Initiatives such as ZIUR, the Gipuzkoa Industrial Cybersecurity Center, have been key to building capabilities, knowledge and new business opportunities in the region.

“Orbik’s growth confirms that Gipuzkoa has the knowledge, talent and business capacity needed to position itself in a field as strategic for European industry as cybersecurity. Projects like this create skilled jobs, strengthen our industrial fabric and make it possible to develop technological solutions with international reach from within the region,” said the Deputy General of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza. She added that Orbik exemplifies the “innovative character and potential” of the cybersecurity companies based in Gipuzkoa, which represents “a clear strength that we must make the most of” to keep strengthening business competitiveness and developing the industry of the future.

From research to a company with European ambitions

Orbik Cybersecurity was founded on the capabilities developed by IKERLAN in industrial product cybersecurity. Its evolution is a case of technology transfer in which knowledge generated through research has been turned into proprietary technology, business activity and specialized employment.

“Orbik is a great example of what we at IKERLAN mean by technology transfer: turning advanced knowledge and years of research into a new company capable of growing, creating jobs and delivering competitive solutions to industry,” said Ion Etxeberria, Managing Director of IKERLAN.

In 2025, Orbik took a further step by becoming a mixed worker cooperative through an agreement between MONDRAGON and IKERLAN, with the support of the Basque Government through the Basque Tek Ventures program.

Vision 2030: a European benchmark from Gipuzkoa

Orbik’s Vision 2030 has one main goal: to establish itself as a European benchmark in industrial cybersecurity. To achieve this, the cooperative is committed to developing technology from Gipuzkoa, creating highly skilled jobs and contributing to the competitiveness of industry through a cooperative model with a long-term vision.

“In just a few years, we have gone from an idea fostered by our technology ecosystem to becoming a benchmark in areas such as industrial cybersecurity assessment, certification and regulatory compliance. Our vision is to keep growing from Gipuzkoa, help industry tackle its cybersecurity challenges and position ourselves as a European leader in this field,” said Salva Trujillo, Managing Director of Orbik Cybersecurity.
